Finding Space In a Urban Place
One of the best parts about living in Colorado is there is always open space and hiking spots close to the city. The best open spaces close to where I live is Bluffs Regional Park. It is my newly discovered hiking spot that is just minutes from my house. When I settled into Lone Tree I had to get used to the suburban life again. When I was going to college I lived in the bustling city with my friends. There was always so much to do within walking distance. I rarely ever used my car and even walked a few blocks to work. In Lone Tree getting around is not as easy, there is no way you could live without a car. My commute to work is now a 20-minute drive, which is not a lot but it is a drastic change from a 15-minute walk.

Finding Fresh Air and Open Skies
Giving up easy access to the city parks was also a challenge. I had to look for a new place to escape all the people where I could get outside for fresh air. Luckily I found Bluffs Regional Park. Only a five minute drive away from my apartment. This loop is located behind an upscale neighborhood behind the Target on Lincoln and Yosemite. The trail inclines at a 200 ft elevation and is about a 2.7-mile loop. Take an extra-long hike by choosing from a few different paths that offer access to the Highlands Ranch trails, the East/West Trail, South Suburban Parks, and Recreation Districts Trail system.

Bluffs Regional Park
Bluffs Regional Park is a great open space park to get a walk-in for you and your dog. Or if you need a good kick in the but it is a great spot to get some cardio in for the day. At the top of the hill, there are two overlooks where you can see the Mountains and all of the Denver Metro Area. This vantage point is the perfect spot for watching sunsets. Grab a blanket and maybe a bottle of wine to fully take in the picturesque view. It is one of my favorite spots in Colorado and a real hidden gem!
