A nice tweed dress like this one from Gal Meets Glam makes me feel very collegiate. As I wandered around the beautiful campus of Colorado State University for the first time I pictured what it would be like attending an ivy league university in the 1950’s. With this dress I think I would have fit right in, this style was completely normal back then. Nowadays this style really sticks out. It is hardly normal to wear a dress especially one that is modest with a classic vintage style. I feel like I get some sidelong glances, especially from the younger generation when I dress in a proper midi dress. They probably think I am fresh from church or something. But the truth is this older golden age style is the style I feel happiest in and that is all that really matters.

I have noticed more and more how my style has become more refined and mature. I am no longer a college girl, that was a long time ago. I can dress without caring what people think which has given me more freedom to individualize my taste. I find myself wearing things that my younger self would have frowned at. But as I enter into this new era of discovering myself I am even more excited to invite new things into my life. Including sophisticated tweeds.

I have never owned anything tweed. This dress is my first, and I gotta say I am hooked. I especially loved this tweed dress because of its perfect autumn red hue and simple design. The fabric is heavy, too heavy for a strenuous hot day. But since it is sleeveless I can still wear it when it is a little warm outside and as it gets cold I can easily add an assortment of layers. Starting with a crisp blazer in a warm autumn hue, a long jacket, or even a sophisticated white oxford shirt underneath for an easy layer. As always with a Gal Meets Glam dress the details are always what put the design over the top. My favorite details on this dress are the retro-styled v-neck collar, it is unlike any other neckline I have ever worn and it really adds to the vintage style of the dress. I also love the full skirt, it is fun to twirl around in and makes for an extremely comfortable all day wear.

During the preparation for Autumn, I am buying outfits that are good for the warm days and cold days. Because fall is all about layers, I am looking for pieces that I can layer with the items I already have in my closet. When I buy a new piece of clothing I am always picturing multiple ways that I am going to wear it. I hardly ever buy anything for just one occasion. I shop for an intended purpose. I even have a list of items that I feel are lacking in my wardrobe and I slowly pick up new items when I come across the perfect piece. I will be working on my fall wardrobe essentials list soon where I dive into the must-haves for fall. I am off to the mountains in a week and it will be the perfect setting for all things autumn the leaves are changing already and I am ready for a very needed getaway!
Thanks for reading on this lovely day! Let me know if you’re going tweed crazy in the comments! I would love to know what your buying for your autumn wardrobe!
